Why Lukas Podolski Should Leave Arsenal

I'm undecided on Lukas Podolski and his impact at Arsenal. On one hand, his clinical nature has been a very welcome addition, but on the other he doesn't often complete the full 90 minutes and has been injured for a sizeable chunk of his career at Arsenal. With interest coming from Inter Milan, supposedly, it could result in the German attacker leaving the north London club. IBI Times have reported that while Inter Milan officials were in London, discussing a move for Bacary Sagna, they also enquired into Podolski's availability.

FIVE Central Midfielders Who Could Replace Steven Gerrard

Liverpool fans have enjoyed watching Steven Gerrard dominating the centre of midfield since 1997 after he was promoted to the first team straight from the U18's. Gerrard is one of England's greatest central midfielders and a Premier League legend to go with it. It's fair to say that Gerrard is deserving of a place in the football players hall of fame. However, at his age, 33, it'll be hard for him to keep going for much longer as a regular. If Liverpool are serious about their ambitions then they must find a player who can replace Gerrard, for now and the long term.

8 Serie A Players Whose Contracts Are Ending Next Season

In the penultimate article on players whose contract ends next summer, I will take a look at who may well be available for free next season in Serie A, evaluate who may want them, and express my surprise at some of the inclusions. Serie A is rich with experienced players that reigned supreme six or seven years ago and are now just hoping to keep their fitness in order to be of use to teams. Javier Zanetti, for example, is 40 years old and is still churning out 40 appearances a season. However, an injury has limited him to just one appearance so far this season. His contract does end next summer as well, but he doesn't make the list due to age and his commitment to Inter Milan. Esteban Cambiasso, Andrea Pirlo, Diego Milito, David Pizarro, Miroslav Klose, Walter Samuel, Nicola Legrottaglie and many more legends of the game will be out of contract next summer. Plenty of bargains to be had there.

    5 Reasons Why I love Serie A

Maybe its because Italian blood runs through my veins, but Serie A has always been one of my favourite leagues to watch. Whether it’s a huge match between Juventus and Inter Milan or the derby between Lazio and Roma, I fall in love with the league even more every time I’m lucky enough to catch it on television. I think its pretty underrated - there is a lot of talent down in Italy, both new as well as the Italian legends that still grace the pitch for their favorite teams. Here are five reasons why I love Serie A, and why you should, too!

A look at the terribly huge decline of Serie A

In 2006, Italian football was hit by a match-fixing scandal known as Calcipoli that involved the country’s top football leagues. As a result, Juventus, the team with the most Serie A titles, was relegated to Serie B. They also received a nine-point deduction ahead of the new season and were stripped of the 2005 and 2006 Serie A titles. AC Milan, the team with the second most Serie A Championships, recieved an eight-point deduction for the following season. And that, football fans, is how the downswing of Italian football league began.

A look back at Dennis Bergkamp - Arsenal's non-flying Dutchman

When Dennis Bergkamp joined Arsenal in 1995 for a club record fee of £7.5million, it was seen as a significant signing for the Gunners. Arsenal were going through a period of decline and Bergkamp was already an established international player and he would play a huge part of the success Arsenal would later find.

Why Samuel Eto'o Could Prove Vital To Chelsea's Ambitions

If reports are to believed, Samuel Eto's wage packet at Anzhi was somewhere in region of £300,000 a week. A week! Unbelievable. It is debatable whether or not any footballer is worth that much, never mind Samuel Eto'o.

Can Samuel Eto’o Still Cut It At The Highest Level?

With Samuel Eto’o’s club Anzhi in financial meltdown and making every first team player available for transfer, should big European teams be eyeing the Cameroonian forward as a purchase? I thought I’d have a look who would need him.

Jose Mourinho: A look at the Chelsea manager 10 years on

This time ten years ago, Jose Mourinho was coming off the back of a domestic campaign where he had won the Portuguese League, Cup and Super Cup.  Porto were undoubtedly the dominant force in their own country, but winning a competition such as the UEFA Cup made the rest of Europe take notice.  A year later Mourinho saw his side lift the European Cup, having reached the pinnacle of club football by winning the Champions League.

Rafa Benitez has a point to prove with Napoli

With the signing of Gonzalo Higuain to replace Edinson Cavani, and the arrivals of Pepe Reina, Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon during the past month, Rafa Benitez has very quickly made his mark on Napoli and brought in a lot of Spanish or Spanish speaking players. Whether this is a conscious effort to surround himself with players that have been educated the 'Spanish way' and understand the type of football that he wants to play remains to be seen, although he is clearly looking for an improvement on his previous attempt at management in Serie A.
