FOOLISH: Why Draxler Must Not Choose Bayern Munich Over Arsenal

Germany is well known for being able to produce world class talent for the European elite to fight over from a young age. German players are arriving on our shores in large numbers and are seemingly here to stay, with Mesut Ozil being the latest high profile German to make the switch to England. He followed in the footsteps of Andre Schurrle, Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker, Thomas Eisfeld, Serge Gnabry, Marko Marin, Sascha Riether, Lewis Holtby, Robert Huth and many more that have graced our pitches in the past. Germany are famous for producing dedicated, passionate, energetic, efficient and extremely talented players that some clubs have spotted and are now forming a core of players in this country. Arsenal and Chelsea in particular are creating squads full of Germans in a bid to try and dominate the English game. Here are a selection of youngsters that could light up the Premier League in years to come:
Many of you probably know who Papadopoulos is. The Greek international who plays at centre back for Schalke but is injured most of the time yet still very highly rated. But do most of you know really who he is? Or have you just heard of him? Fortunately I have had the pleasure of watching him play and I now know who he is and I believe that the interest from a number of top clubs around Europe is certainly deserved.
So it might not have been as eye catching as some of the big money moves across Europe in the madness and melee of the closing days of the transfer window, however Schalke’s capture of Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng could well prove one of the shrewdest.
It appears that reports of Lukas Podolski's impending exit from Arsenal have been greatly exaggerated.
Rejoice fellow fans! Pre-season is under way which means that seasons will soon be starting. The countdown begins.
With the entire country focusing on the retirement of Alex Ferguson and the potential departure of Wayne Rooney in the summer, Manchester United fans have a hell of a lot of topics to discuss. Here is another. Here are three reasons we suggest that the Red Devils should sign Schalke colossal Benedikt Howedes.
Despite Chelsea fans not knowing who will be at the helm of the club when the new season rolls around, the rumours are flying thick and fast. The latest piece of gossip is that Roman Ambramovich is ready to throw his money at German side Schalke for the services of their young centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
We have heard very little of Champions League winner and former Liverpool captain Sami Hyppia since his departure from Anfield in 2009. Yet after ending his playing career in 2011, the veteran Finnish defender now co-manages a Bayer Leverkusen side who are riding high in the Bundesliga.
Late strikes from Klass-Jan Huntelaar and Ibrahim Affelay brought an end to Arsenal’s incredible home Champions league record.
Many could have forgiven Ibrahim Afellay for sulking somewhat. After being touted as “the next best thing” for what seemed like an age in Holland as he developed from a flying winger to midfield fulcrum for PSV, there were high expectations from the Dutchman when he joined Barcelona in January 2011.
As I watched a very entertaining game between Liverpool and Udinese in the Europa League last week, I realised it was fourth game of the competition I was watching already this season. For all the jesting that the competition is a 'poor man's Champions League' it throws up some brilliant fixtures and gives us a chance to watch teams and players we wouldn't normally get to see if you're not an avid follower of the other European leagues.
When one looks back at the Real Madrid 'Galatico' generation, no one ever seems to put Guti in the same bracket as his compatriots, who he shared a pitch with for many a season.
As a manager Felix Magath is known as “Quälix” to his players. “Quälix” is the mashed up word of his first name Felix and the German word for torture ‘quälen’. Quite a word, to describe your manager; but that’s what Magath is all about. Fitness, discipline, conditioning; “Quälix” is all about prepping up his players to battle it on the pitch. His detached man-management and strict methods, while harsh on players have produced the goods during his management career. Back at Wolfsburg, he’s aim once again is simple: make them champions.
I think we can take it as read that you'll have said the English Premier League and Spain's La Liga, and if you keep up with Uefa coefficients, there's a very good chance you've said the German Bundesliga as well.
