FOOLISH: Why Draxler Must Not Choose Bayern Munich Over Arsenal

The Julian Draxler rumours to Arsenal intensified towards the end of the January transfer window with some media outlets apparently suggesting that the Gunners will be signing the German star. According to ESPN, the Schalke star is not ruling out a move to Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich.

This would be a silly move for bith him and Schalke, in my eyes. While there is a perfectly legitimate claim he's settled in Germany and would like to stay there, if there's an opportunity to move abroad then Schalke and Draxler should grab the chance with both hands.

There's a few reasons for it as well.

Firstly, Munich have a crazy number of players capable of playing in his position and who are even better than him at the moment. Franck Ribery, Toni Kroos and Mario Gotze can all play there. Thomas Muller is also known to have occupied that left wing position in the past.

While Ribery is in devastating form right now, he doesn't have too many years left at the top. However, in order for Gotze and Kroos to tie down a spot in the starting line up, one of them may have to take over that wide position. He could do his career a lot of damage if he isn't played consistently.

The second reason is that the German contingent at Arsenal would help welcome to the club if he is worried about transferring to a different country. Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker were vey influential in bringing Mesut Ozil to the club and you can't bet against them doing it for Julian Draxler. This is what places Arsenal above most external teams as Arsene Wenger is creating a solid core of Germans.

Finally, linking in with my previous point, Arsene Wenger is an admirer of Germans as a whole and has been interested in Julian Draxler for a number of years now. Under the right tutelage, Draxler can become a huge player in the future and Wenger is one of the few managers in the world that can make that a reality.

Pep Guardiola can make that a reality as well but he has too many big projects to contend with first and Draxler needs to be put first which might not happen under Pep.

Draxler joining isn't one of the worst things he could do but he should definitely choose Arsenal ahead of the them and so should Schalke unless they want to completely destroy the Bundesliga.
