Crocked: Chelsea Need To Forget About Falcao And Look Elsewhere

Serious injuries are never a good thing to happen to a player, especially in a World Cup year. This January, a transfer rumour favourite of Chelsea, Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, tore his ACL during a league match for his club.

Jose Mourinho hinted at a possible move for Monaco star, Radamel Falcao according to the Telegraph, who reported from an interview with French television company, 'Canal Football Club'. Why I Love The Transfer Window - My Round Up Of The Latest Gossip

Transfer gossip is pretty much my favourite thing ever! I love to laugh at the ridiculous rumors and get really excited and analyse the ones that could actually happen. January is less than two months away now, so it’s about that time that the transfer rumors will start to make their way around. Personally, I can think that a certain transfer can be an absolute perfect fit, but until I see the pen hit the paper, I don’t believe it. Here are some rumors that I heard about this week and what I think about them.

    Is There Trouble In Monaco?

Now that Monaco have failed with their appeal regarding tax benefits, and therefore must comply with French law and income tax rates - will they end up having to sell star players that only a few weeks ago had signed contracts, because of the promise of huge wages and a project that was going to be the envy of the football world?

Do Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures At Arsenal?

Six minutes into the Premier League season and Arsene Wenger would have been feeling fairly good about his team. Olivier Giroud had put the Gunners ahead in their tie against Aston Villa, and most fans in the stadium would have been expecting more goals to come. The following 20 minutes did see further reasons for encouragement, but the ball didn't end up in the back of the Villa net.

The future's bright for French football

A casual observer of the modern game will tell you that the future of football lies in Spain, who have had success throughout all international age groups but also European dominance with their club sides. A more interested observer will tell you that Germany has the potential to be the future Kings of Europe and the world. You only have to look as far as the all German Champions League final. However, a dedicated follower of football will tell you that France are developing into a country that will compete with Germany and Spain for many years to come. A patriotic Englishman will argue that England are in with a shout, but they will even be shot down by the casual observer.

There are clear advantages; France have only ever had one Champions League winner and only one finalist in the last twenty years – something that will surely change in the coming years. In recent times Ligue 1 has seen its best players constantly poached by the top European leagues, however suddenly the best and most highly sought after players are now coming to France with Radamal Falcao and Edinson Cavani being prime examples of this.

How high will transfer fees go? (Video)

With rumours that PSG are about to smash the French transfer record by spending £60m on Edinson Cavani, just how high are transfers likely to go during the next five years? Newly promoted Monaco have already lavished close to £50m on Falcao, whilst Real Madrid hold the overall record, set back in 2009 when they purchased Cristiano Ronaldo. Is there any sense to spending so much on one player or is it just too big a risk?

David Villa: Barcelona's loss is Atletico Madrid's gain (Video)

News that Atletico Madrid only had to pay £4.5m to sign David Villa from Barcelona seems like one of the best pieces of transfer business we are likely to see this summer. For Spain's all-time top scorer, and still relatively young striker, to leave Catalonia for such a low fee is a real bargain for the Madrid based club, who are looking to replace Radamel Falcao. Why is he such a good player and what are Atletico going to get from him?
