Will this seasons ‘big four’ prove too much for challenges?

During the early years of what I would call my footballing life, there was one principle that could usually be relied upon as a constant, the so-called ‘big four’.  Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool exchanged blows throughout the season but would almost inevitably finish in the top four.

Minnows amongst Sharks: Life in 3rd place

This article focuses on two areas where football is a massive part of people’s lives; Manchester and Sheffield.  When you think about these areas from a footballing perspective there are two big derbies that spring to mind.  In Manchester, City vs. United has grabbed itself pride of place as the must see fixture in the English, especially after the dizzying rise of the blues.  In Sheffield, the Owls and the Blades, where the balance of power is forever shifting from between red and blue in a city where football reigns supreme above other sports.

Wilfried Zaha has certainly been in the headlines of late. His quite wonderful recent performances for Crystal Palace have had both fans, managers and opposition purring at Selhurst Park and unsurprisingly, Premier League heavyweights Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are all set to be circling for the Eagles forward.

Did Manchester City sell the wrong midfielder?

As the summer went on and it became clear that Roberto Mancini was looking to add one if not two central-midfield players to his books, it was clear that someone already at the club was to be sold. Clearly, it was not going to be Yaya Toure, David Silva or Samir Nasri so that left the choice between Gareth Barry and Nigel De Jong.

The £48m man that is worth every penny (Video)

Every few years, there is one player that comes along that has the capability of taking ones breath away. In a world of Cristiano Ronaldo’s and Lionel Messi’s, this one performer is, unfortunately, living in the shadow of the two giants of La Liga.

The English All Time Table Top Ten: Is your team there?

The internet can be at the best of times a weird and wonderful tool and today I stumbled across a league so big, where some of its participants have played over four thousand games, even the most nerdy football statistician in the world would swoon at the site of it.

Who has the X Factor? (VIDEO)

With ITV’s hit talent show back in full force with the live shows, what Premier League footballers would make your shortlist? There have been hundreds of world class players that have braced these shores since the Premiership was formed back in 1992, and any number of footballers could present legitimate cases for their inclusion.

Plenty of Manchester United players would be in contention, with the Red Devils having won the lion’s share of domestic trophies in the past twenty years. Arsenal and Chelsea would also be well represented, with Manchester City now also boasting some of the best players in the league.

It would certainly be an unenviable task though to pick the twelve best players in Premiership history. Still though, some players deserve consideration due solely to their ability to score wonder goals, and here is a selection of the very best, including a moment of genius from one David Beckham.

Premier League talking points: six weeks in

It's good to have it back isn't it? Even with the European Championships this summer I still found myself craving the drama and excitement of the Premier League. So, how's it all looking after six weeks and six games in? Well, one thing we still know for sure; John Terry is still a loathsome moron who no one likes with a reputation that is now, if it wasn't before, irrecovably tarnished. Gutted.
