    The great Ajax football machine

AFC Ajax is a club that is stooped in history. Pioneers of 'total football' in the late 60s and 70s with the legendary Johan Cryuff at the forefront. Their youth system is highly revered throughout the footballing world producing the likes of Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, Dennis Bergkamp and Clarence Seedorf to name but a few.

    The mystery of Andrei Arshavin

There are some characters in the Premier League. Man City's Mario Balotelli spings to mind, of course, and is as eccentric as they come, his list of misdimenors now infamous in football folklore. Djibiril Cisse of QPR is pretty bonkers, too. Andei Arshavin is up near the top in terms of craziest in league and if you don't believe me please visit his website and the Ask Arshavin section. Comedy gold.

The Artist formerly known as Kaka

What ever happened to Ricardo Kaka? Bought by Real Madrid for an eye watering £50 million plus (remember that this is the same summer they bought Ronaldo for £80 million) in 2009, he has merely played a bit-part role for Jose Mourinho's team.

Money, money, money in a footballer's world

I remember very vividly the day in August 2008 that Sheikh Mansour took over Manchester City Football club and began investing vast amounts of money into the club. Robinho was bought for £30 million (or something close to that) and a host of world class players were brought in to bolster what had been a mediocre mid-table club, at best, for the past couple of seasons. Now look at them.
