Why Spurs Star Leaving The Club Is A Good Thing

Its seems that it's pretty final that Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe is going to make his way across the pond to play in the MLS for Toronto FC. Everyone here is looking at all of the negatives in this situation, and don’t get me wrong, for Spurs, there really isn’t much good that is going to come from this transfer. Defoe was a positive element to the side that suffered an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Manchester City this weekend, and getting rid of one of your best players doesn’t seem like the wisest choice. But I’m going to be different, I’m going to flip this matter around and give a few reasons why it’s great that Defoe will be playing in the MLS.

The 10 Most Ridiculous Premier League Hairstyles

Image has become part and parcel of being a Premier League players nowadays and some players put as much effort into grooming themselves before a game as they do on the training ground. There have been many players renowned for regularly altering their hairstyle and acting as trendsetters in the Premier League. David James and David Beckham are two examples. While the latter has carved out a successful marketing and merchandising empire from his image, the often comical James' career petered out in the lower leagues and he is remembered more for the many gaffs he made with England, Liverpool and Aston Villa than the colour and shape of his afro.

Why Players Should Think Twice Before Moving To Paris Saint-Germain

In yet another story of a mediocre club being bought by billionaires, Paris St Germain has been no stranger to money in the past few years. Some of the most talented players in the world have decided to call the city of lights their home recently, even David Beckham got in on the action before retiring. But, there is just something about PSG that I just can’t wrap my head around. I feel like these superstars that decide to play there are forgotten, going to a league that isn’t quite as popular as all of the others. Yes, they qualify for the Champions League, but even there, they’re up against giants, and they can’t really compete.

Goalkeepers that keep scoring goals (video)

Goalkeepers, for the sake of their manager’s heart-rate, should stay inside their own penalty box at all times, occasionally rushing out to close down an on-rushing striker, but only in an emergency. There are exceptions to this rule, but they must possess the finishing ability of an Alan Shearer, or the set-piece brilliance of a David Beckham. Such creatures do exist, and mainly in the footballing utopia that is South America.

Karel Poborsky - the Czech winger (Video)

The long haired Czech winger was signed by Manchester United in the summer of 1996, just after the European Championship came to a conclusion. He was a skilful and technically decent player who is usually remembered for scoring a famous lob goal against Portugal in the quarter-finals of Euro 96. Sir Alex Ferguson saw attributes that he liked and had it not been for David Beckham's arrival and subsequent performances on the right side of midfield then he might have spent longer at Old Trafford.
