Former Liverpool midfielder sent off for kicking a medic (video)

It's a widely known fact that Argentina's Javier Mascherano doesn't possess the sort of character one might expect of a model professional but, even by his standards, kicking out at a medic is surely a step too far.

    Andy Carroll Hammer Bound?

With a fee agreed weeks ago, any finalising touches have been postponed after Carroll had gone away on holiday to think over his prospects and future. With a season of first team football under his belt and some top end performances towards the end of the season, saw Andy’s stock rise again in English football and his form was rewarded with an England call up, games he didn’t see action in due to injury, an injury reportedly ruling him out for up to four months. So with his reputation and form on the rise is Andy Carroll West Ham bound?

La Liga forward no closer to Premier League move after big money bid turned down (Video)

Spanish side Sevilla have turned down a £14.5m offer from West Ham for Alvaro Negredo on the same day that they almost concluded the £17m deal to sell Jesus Navas to Manchester City. Was this just a case of the Hammers being unlucky, as the Andalucians had already agreed to part with one of their star players and therefore didn't want to lose another so quickly, or were they aiming too high by even attempting to capture such a player?

Jussi Jaaskelainen – A Premier League Legend

It is a well known fact that Football is a team sport and every team member is as valuable as the other. But naturally, the recognition received by all the players of the team, is not the same. As an audience we rather watch strikers score goals than defenders preventing them. A spectacular last ditch tackle is not met with the same reaction as a spectacular goal.

A detailed look at what would have happened to Spurs if Gareth Bale had left last summer

One debate that has reached almost clichéd proportions in recent months is the characterisation of Tottenham as a one-man team – that one man, of course, being Gareth Bale. Spurs tasted the ultimate disappointment on the last day of the season, being beaten to fourth place by Arsenal, but it was only Bale’s last minute winner against Sunderland that left Arsenal needing those three points at Newcastle. So how much lower than fifth would they have finished without Gareth Bale’s 26 goals?

Andy Carroll's Liverpool future over before it has began

It is easy to forget that Andy Carroll is actually a Liverpool player and is not already a West Ham player given how seamlessly he has fitted into the Hammers fold this term compared to looking like the white elephant that he did at Anfield. With that in mind there is no surprise to hear the Metro reporting that Carroll is West Ham's main target for the summer.

West Ham make the permanent signing of Andy Carroll their “top priority”

With a decent enough season and with glimpses of the form which saw him being the star man in Newcastle’s promotion back into the Premier League a few seasons ago and led to his transfer to Liverpool for £35 million, but with little opportunities on Merseyside, Sam Allardyce think the big number 9 should seek pastures new in London.

Can number twos become successful number ones?

As we prepare to enter the whirlwind of speculation that is a tournament-less odd-number summer, the rumour mill is turning fast. No area is more saturated at present than the subject of managerial changes. One move that is often the subject of debate is promotion from within. Nigel Adkins’ journey from physio to boss at Scunthorpe is the most referred to example of recent times, but are there any other success stories, or is Terry Connor’s nightmare stint at Wolves the norm?

    The most successful loan signings

Loan signings are one of football’s great dividers. Used correctly and sparingly, they can be the difference between success and failure, like any addition to any squad. Used too liberally, like in Watford’s case this season with eleven signings, and criticism can be expected. Here are some of the most successful loan signings in English football.
