Crocked: Chelsea Need To Forget About Falcao And Look Elsewhere

Serious injuries are never a good thing to happen to a player, especially in a World Cup year. This January, a transfer rumour favourite of Chelsea, Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, tore his ACL during a league match for his club.

He required surgery and it seemed as if not only his season, but the Colombian’s World Cup hopes were all but over. However, recently, according to espnfc.com, the surgeon who performed Falcao’s surgery spoke of the striker’s recovery

Normally, an injury and surgery of that nature would require a recovery period of at least six months. However, according to his doctor, Falcao is actually healing ahead of schedule, and perhaps his World Cup dreams may not yet be crushed. More importantly though, what does this information mean for Chelsea?

Recently I heard rumors that the Colombian wasn’t happy playing for AS Monaco. That doesn’t surprise me at all. I, as well as every other Chelsea fan, I’m sure, don’t think too highly of a player that snubs us for money, and I expect that is exactly what Falcao did.

If he were to come to Chelsea this summer, he would need to make an impact quickly if he wants to win the support of the fans. We are Chelsea and we certainly aren't about to be someone's second choice.

Should Chelsea look to sign Falcao this summer? My opinion is no way, and it’s not because I’m bitter he chose to go to Monaco. The man suffered a serious injury; it wouldn’t be wise for the Blues to sign a striker that isn’t 100% fit, it’s too risky.

Chelsea need a striker up front that they can rely on, and someone that hasn’t played a match in several months isn’t someone that they should be considering. However, on that note, it is a World Cup year.

Lets say that Falcao does get his fitness levels up and is able to play for Colombia in the World Cup. It is then that he must show his skills and prove that he would be able to make a difference at Chelsea.

In my opinion, this is unlikely to happen, and if Chelsea are in the market to get another striker this summer, they should definitely be looking elsewhere.
