Can Hatem Ben Arfa Provide The Spark Newcastle Need?

Somewhere, somehow, it all went drastically wrong for Newcastle United last season. Things didn't improve over the summer with the controversial appointment of Joe Kinnear as the new director of football as well as the unnecessary drama that was caused by Papiss Cisse not wanting to wear Wonga but deciding to in the end anyway.

Newcastle's French revolution set to continue (Video)

Bafetimbi Gomis has been doing the business in Ligue 1 since 2007, but could he cut in the Premier League? Five years after their initial interest during his time at Saint-Etienne, Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a fee for the French striker with his current club Lyon.

Newcastle sponsor dispute ends with egg on Papiss Cisse's face

We all know of those Wonga television adverts that feature those old age puppets (to disarm us) and somehow, by the magic of advertising, makes payday loans some like an appealing prospect.

Red card for punching team-mate: When colleagues don't get on (Video)

The sight of team-mates not agreeing on something is not a rare on in football.

    No surprises over Newcastle madness

Joe Kinnear's now infamous interview on TalkSport was truly a moment of comedic brilliance from the newly appointed director of football at Newcastle United but it is also symptomatic of the crazy bubble that football lives in.

Does Andy Carroll represent value for money?

As a Spaniard myself, I'm a huge fan of intricate, "tiki-taka" football and all those who entertain us with their movement, skill and so on.

Premier League quartet linked with Barcelona star

It has become virtually impossible for a day of transfer speculation to go by without one Premier League team or another being linked with a “Barcelona starlet”. A product of the famed La Masia academy, a precocious talent, a “nino prodigio” to give them their correct Spanish name, whilst also demonstrating that I can type “wunderkind in Spanish” into Google search.

Karel Poborsky - the Czech winger (Video)

The long haired Czech winger was signed by Manchester United in the summer of 1996, just after the European Championship came to a conclusion. He was a skilful and technically decent player who is usually remembered for scoring a famous lob goal against Portugal in the quarter-finals of Euro 96. Sir Alex Ferguson saw attributes that he liked and had it not been for David Beckham's arrival and subsequent performances on the right side of midfield then he might have spent longer at Old Trafford.

    Can Newcastle avoid the drop?

After Liverpool scored their sixth goal at St James Park in their clash with the Magpies, a large number of fans had already left the stadium. Many were disgusted at the pitiful performance on show, whilst others just consigned themselves to the fact that perhaps they are about to suffer for the final month of the campaign and will have to fight to stay in the division.

    Pardew's unsurprising second season syndrome.

There was great satisfaction on Tyneside last May as Newcastle secured fifth spot, and manager Alan Pardew earned the LMA and Premier League manager of the year awards. As their current season lies in ruins after a 3-0 home defeat to bitter rivals on Sunday, a cursory glance at the history books reminds we have been here before.

    FA toothless once again

It is quite remarkable how the linesman during Wigan's home clash with Newcastle failed to see how bad Callum McManaman's tackle on Massadio Haidara was.
