PSG set to launch £15million bid for Newcastle star

PSG are poised to launch a £15million swoop for Newcastle star Yohan Cabaye.

The Magpies midfielder, 27, is at the top of the mega-rich French champions’ summer shopping list following two impressive seasons in the Premier League.

The Ligue 1 club are said to be confident in landing Cabaye as the French international is apparently keen on a big-money move back to his home country.

However, Cabaye is still content at St James Park and still has three years left on his contract. But the prospect of playing Champions League football with PSG could turn his head as he looks to nail down a starting place in France's first eleven.

And with PSG’s main priority next term the Champions League, the lure of a four-year deal worth an estimated £120,000-a-week would be irresistible.

Toon boss Alan Pardew is desperate to keep Cabaye, who also interests Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger and Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas.

But neither north London club is willing to compete with loaded PSG.An offer of around £15million is expected to force the Geordies to do business over playmaker Cabaye, who cost Newcastle just £4.5million from Lille in July 2011.

One hitch is the uncertainty surrounding PSG’s managerial position. Real are keen to replace Chelsea-bound coach Jose Mourinho with the Paris club’s Carlo Ancelotti.
