Rooney's Was Good, But Beckham's Was Better: Premier League Review

It was goals galore in the Premier League as 32 goals were scored during the course of Saturday's action alone, and there were some fine strikes to be admired.

Wayne Rooney's excellent impression of David Beckham against West Ham is taking all the headlines, and with good reason. It was effort from out of this world, and for those who seem it right to criticise Rooney should look no further to this goal to see the man's undisputed talent.

For me, though, Beckham's halfway line lob against Wimbledon is better. It is inch perfect and it announced Beckham to the world as a prodigious talent. West Ham's goalkeeper, Adrian, completely misjudged the flight of the ball and not only that but he fell over as he raced back to try and save Rooney's effort. I know this is nitpicking of the highest order but this is how you have to dissect such occurrences.

As ever, Liverpool were able to score a nice goal or two this weekend and Chelsea, of course, knocked six past a helpless Arsenal. What happened there?! Incredible scenes and you have to say Arsenal's title challenge is now over.

But it wasn't just the clubs in the top half of the table who were scoring rather good goals yesterday, Norwich's Alexander Tettey netted a superb strike to help the Canaries grab three vital points against Sunderland. It was a beautiful goal as Tettey tracks the ball's flight through the air, steps into the strike, and leathers it on the volley. Cracking stuff.

So, a good day for goals then as the title race was reduced from a four horse race to three as Arsenal took a nasty fall at the third to last fence.
