    The play-off dilemma

So the final standings of the Championship has been decided; Reading are perched at the very top whilst Southampton follow them back into the Premier League. This year’s Championship has once again been fascinating and has truly shown that if the Premiership is described as the best league in the world, our 2nd tier standard of football must be closely following.

Why England would be wrong to appoint Redknapp

113 places separate England and Wales in the FIFA rankings. According to statistics, England are the fourth best team in the world; Wales 117. They looked a shadow of that when they came up against Gary Speed and co. playing out a lacklustre 1-0 win in a match that the Dragons often outplayed the Three Lions.

Blackpool FC – A Dream Crushed And A New Challenge

It is fair to say that Blackpool Football Club’s 124 year history has endured the kind of ups and downs you would expect to see on the pleasure beach which the city has become famous for. There has been little to cheer about on the Lancashire Coast since the seasiders relegation from the old First Division in the 1970-71 season and the glory days of the “Matthews Final” FA Cup win in 1953 were a thing of legend to the young Blackpool fans coming through the ranks; success of such a level could only be dreamt of by many.

    Championship Preview

After relegation from the top tier of English football, Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham will be hoping they can bounce back at the first time of asking. After being harshly axed from previous jobs all to do with dodgy ownership, Chris Hughton and Sam Allardyce want their respective clubs to be pushing for the Championship title. I reckon they would have a good chance of winning it too.

Promoted Sides Planning To Stick Around

For the majority of last season the Championship was a one-horse race, with Queens Park Rangers, under the guidance of Neil Warnock, sealing a return to the top flight for the first time in 15 years. Once dubbed “the richest club in the world”, Rangers should be looking to add the vital experience and quality needed to maintain their status in the Premier League. However, as of yet there has been limited activity in the transfer market with failed moves already for the likes of Danny Graham, Steve Morison, and Craig Mackail-Smith, although interest has re-opened in terms of bringing the latter to Loftus Road.

    Questions remain despite the fine

As the players, staff and fans of Queens Park Rangers rightfully celebrate their Championship victory, the club have also confirmed that the FA has fined them £875,000. This is as a result of the news the FA confirmed earlier today that the club have been found guilty of two of the seven charges aimed at QPR and their Chairman Gianni Paladini.

    When football meets Facebook

If there’s one thing that could be said for the good old days, it’s that a footballer would never be able to share his true feelings with thousands of people. Or stupid enough.
