    Why Relegation Needs To Stay

Simply put - the abolition of top-flight relegation would be the abolition of competitive English football. It would kill not only the Premier League, but the whole Football League.

Will the real Gareth Bale please stand up?

Two games have defined and, to an extent, shaped Gareth Bale's career thus far. The Champions League double header over Inter Milan, where the Welshman scored a hat-trick at the San Siro followed by a performance that was credited with his finest in his short career and some deem to be the one that won him the PFA Player of the Year.

    Pardew for England?

Whilst it may not be the holiday destination that many English tourists would have chosen, their tickets can at least be booked with a sigh of relief that Fabio Capello guided England through their last qualifying campaign under his command, relatively unscathed.

    Friday lunch time quiz

What type of quizzer are you? Do you sit drunk and clueless in the corner? Or are you halfway to Nerdsville with a tank top on and a smart-arse smile? Can you admit to watching Eggheads - even if only in a moment of weakness? No matter which category you fall into – try our pub quiz and prove to yourself that the years of watching and talking about footy have not been a complete waste of time. But please try not to cheat, for as my headmaster used to say “You’re only cheating on yourself”, which ironically is not what his wife said to him, when she caught him in congress with his secretary.

Ten of the best: Robin Van Persie’s finest century strikes.

So he has done, after signing for Arsenal back in 2004, Robin Van Persie’s brace against Bolton at the weekend helped him earn his 99th and 100th goals for the club. Whilst the striker has spent a lot of his tenure in North London on the injury table, Van Persie’s goals over the last few years have been like gold dust to the Gunners especially last year. And being Dutch means that there have been some crackers along the way.

    Championship Round Up

I have to say, Leon Clarke’s hat-trick for Chesterfield against Carlisle did make me smile. My joy for Clarke had nothing to do with any personal feelings towards the on-loan striker, it was more a case of how it went down with his parent club Swindon Town.

    The Deadline Day Bonanza

Much like the World Cup, Champions League and FA Cup finals, transfer deadline day is another date in the diary football fans put under the ‘not to be missed’ section.

    Championship Preview

After relegation from the top tier of English football, Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham will be hoping they can bounce back at the first time of asking. After being harshly axed from previous jobs all to do with dodgy ownership, Chris Hughton and Sam Allardyce want their respective clubs to be pushing for the Championship title. I reckon they would have a good chance of winning it too.

HUMBLE PIE, SOUR GRAPES & EDEN HAZARD? - Wenger's Shopping List for this Summer

As Arsene looked at his watch on Sunday, staring down the barrel of a 3-1 defeat to Stoke, he must have been scratching his head for what he needs to do in order to sort a club out which hasn't picked its head out of the sand since losing in the Carling Cup Final to Birmingham.

WHO WOULD YOU RATHER BE - Mr Winner, Mr Reliable or Cult God?

Many times, friends and I have often had this debate. If you took everything into consideration and looked back at your professional footballing career after hanging up your boots, who would you rather be remembered as? Ross Fisher puts it to the public over a cheeky pint.
