Arsene handed £40m war chest

The Telegraph reports that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be handed a £40million budget this summer and will be aloud to spend the money on whoever he likes.

The money will need to include wages and will be made available for up to a year. Its been widely reported that Bolton’s Gary Cahill is his No1 target as Arsene looks to bolster his defensive options, but faces tough competition from Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

The pragmatic Frenchmen is also set to battle it out with Fergie in an effort to secure the services of Saints highly rates winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

But with the uncertain futures of key Arsenal players, Arsenal are almost certain to dip into the transfer market for further recruits.
