Arsenal manager drops huge hint on £23m rated target

Arsene Wenger dropped a huge hint by smiling at a journalist when asked whether he will pursue the signing of German World Cup winner and Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira. Wenger held a press conference following the Gunners’ ruthless 5-1 win over Portuguese Champions Benfica in the Emirates cup today.

Young French striker Yaya Sanogo scored four goals in the encounter which would certainly give Arsenal fans huge hope ahead of the 2014-15 season. The London club are desperate to mount a Premier League title challenge after their meek surrender last campaign having led the standings for a significant period of time.

Wenger however remained coy over Khedira’s interest.

Here is the full transcript of the press conference:

Journalist: Are you enquiring for Khedira?

Wenger: What is the meaning of enquire for you?

    Journalist: On Khedira’s availablity

Wenger: I don’t know. If I read the newspapers, he is available.

THREE World Cup Finalists Arsenal Should Sign

The World Cup semi-finals got off to an unbelievable start as host nation Brazil were humiliated in front of their eager fans, who were already hurt with the news of Neymar missing the rest of the tournament. Within half an hour, Brazil were 5-0 down and on their way out. Germany scored two more before Brazil managed to grab a consolation. The next semi-final was very disappointing as, after a dull 120 minutes, four decent penalties from Argentina sealed the Netherlands' fate.

Schneiderlin Is A Good Option For Arsenal - Why The Gunners Should Go For Saints Star Over Real Madrid Man

It is well documented that Arsenal are chasing a new defensive midfielder to give the Gunners an alternative to Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini. Arsene Wenger is certainly eying a much younger, fitter and overall better midfielder to ensure that his defence get the best cover he can afford. Blues Eye Sporting Lisbon Midfielder - Why The Chance To Sign Him Is Too Good For Chelsea To Pass Up

Chelsea have a great selection of midfielders at the club who can all put in a shift when required to. They can call on any of Nemanja Matic, Ramires, Marco van Ginkel, John Obi Mikel, Oscar and now Cesc Fabregas. Why my World Cup support lies with the German national team

I'm a fan of good football, exciting young talent, the promotion of discipline and efficiency in the team and finally that a team is a joy to watch.
