Tottenham: Sherwood Wise To Take The Pressure Away From His Players

Ahead of his side's narrow victory at home to Cardiff, Tim Sherwood admitted he was under no illusions about the pressure he was under at White Hart Lane. In my eyes this was a clever move by the Spurs manager, as he deflected all of the attention away from his players, in a game they had to win to keep their ambition for a Champions League place alive.

I have been impressed with the way Sherwood has handled the high expectations at Tottenham and ignored the outside rumours surrounding the future of his job. High profile bosses such as Galatasaray manager Roberto Mancini have expressed an interest in the Spurs hotseat when the selection process comes around, but surely seven wins from his first 11 league games in charge has put Sherwood firmly in the frame for the top job on a permanent basis.

Even if Spurs fail to make the top four, the board at White Hart Lane cannot fail to have been impressed with Sherwood's handling of a job which was in need of a major overhaul. He has shown superb man-management skills in revitalising the forgotten Emmanuel Adebayor.

Sherwood is very professional in his approach and has succeeded in balancing a squad that was scattered with talent, but completely devoid of cohesion. It would be refreshing for a Premier League club to show faith in a young English manager, particularly one that revels in the pressure.

I would like to see Levy come out and say he wants Tim for at least his Manager for next season. Also, he is looking to keep the players that Tim wants for next season and give some subtlety for the club. Like most fans Spurs change their managers so many times, it's becoming a standard joke to remember who is present manager.
The teams that do better in the leagues and have the success are the ones that have trust in the Manager and Chairman, Levy is becoming known as a wide boy or a joke with the other clubs.

I totally agree Peter. Spurs need stability and I think Sherwood is doing an admirable job.
