Arsenal CAN Win The Premier League: Why Wilshere Is Right About Gunners' Title Hopes

Having gone more than eight years without a trophy it would be a disaster for Arsenal to end the current campaign without a piece of silverware. Despite only winning two of their last six league games, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is adamant that his side are well within the title race. After Saturday’s defeat against Stoke City, Arsene Wenger was quick to downplay his side’s title chances, but I think that Wilshere is correct in maintaining that Arsenal are still well in the hunt for the Premier League trophy.

Defeat against the Potters leaves Wenger’s men four points behind leaders Chelsea with a very tough month ahead, featuring fixtures against title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City. Every team has a sticky patch in their season, and I think the 22-year-old has shown a welcome cry of confidence in his team-mates as they go through and approach a run of games that will make or break their dreams.

The forthcoming run of fixtures will not be easy by any means, but Arsenal must take plenty of positives from the level of consistency they have shown this season. They have been near the top of the table since mid-September and managed to qualify from what I saw as the toughest Champions League Group. Many will doubt their ability to perform in the big games, but they can boast wins at home to Spurs, as well as a recent victory in the FA Cup against an in-form Liverpool side.

Aaron Ramsey and transfer window coup Kim Kallstrom are also pencilled in to be back from injury by the end of the month. If Arsenal can stay within touching distance come the beginning of April, then they will be in with a great chance of bringing a fourth Premier League title back to the Emirates.
