Race For Remy Gets Back Underway

The race for French international Loic Remy has restarted after Liverpool pulled out of a deal to sign the QPR striker due to issues regarding his medical. After a fierce race involving a number of Premier League teams, Liverpool had appeared to have secured an £8.5 million deal for Remy only to withdraw from the transfer at the last minute despite the Frenchman travelling to the States to meet up with the squad on their pre-season tour.

On the back of a successful season on loan at Newcastle, Remy impressed when he came on for France during this summer's World Cup in Brazil. Liverpool had fought off challenges from Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle and a number of European clubs to sign Remy, and the odds on the Unibet iPhone appsuggest even more clubs could now come in for the 27-year old now that Liverpool have pulled out of the race.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed Remy wouldn't be joining the club, admitting it was disappointing to miss out on a forward who could have perhaps scored some of the goals Liverpool will be missing following Luis Suarez' departure to Barcelona.

"It's very simple, we have decided not to go ahead with the deal. It's unfortunate for the player - we're obviously disappointed - but there's nothing more to be said. We move onto other targets,” said the Liverpool manager.

But concerns regarding the rumoured failed medical have been quickly dismissed by QPR and it remains to be seen whether recent developments will deter potential suitors for Remy. As long as there isn't any concern over his fitness, there is no doubt Remy has the ability to be a prolific goalscorer in the Premier League. With so many clubs looking to sign a proven goalscorer this summer, it doesn't look as though Remy's return to Loftus Road will be an extended one.

Does Falcao Move Suggest Lack Of Chelsea Pulling Power?

So, there we have it. Radamel Falcao has chosen his destination for next season, and it isn't the Premier League. The beefy Colombian was seen as a replacement for £50m flop Fernando Torres meaning Roman Abramovich will now have to flick through his book of contacts to continue his search for a big money goal-gobbler. But it raises the question, do Chelsea still have the pulling power that they have held previously under the trazillionnaire Russian?

      Sam Allardyce scoops experienced defender

I am sure that many of you have described, or abused, a footballer as 'a rat' in your existence, but Sam Allardyce can expect one of his players to be referred to as just that after he has scooped Romanian full-back Razvan Rat on a free deal. Bargain, I hear you shout. And you'd be right. Although he doesn't scurry around bins at the back of a nightclub in his spare time, that we know of, like his namesakes, he is sure to prove to be a repulsive sight for opponents because of his ability.

The stocky German has been one of the club's stand out players this season and Cottagers far and wide will be raising their bratwurst in appreciation to both the 30-year-old and Jol, who has confirmed that he will re-shape his squad over the summer.

Life is good when you are a footballer, even when your club don’t want you, there always seems to be a few others interested in giving you a home.
