Should we give the cold shoulder to a Winter Break?

For a number of years now, there has been talk about incorporating a European style winter break into the English Premier league. The idea is that a winter break will give England’s international players two weeks off during the season so that they don’t go into major tournaments having played for 10 solid months; but is this a good idea?

Joey Barton; you can't take him anywhere. With news of his latest bust up in Marseille it just shows that the man can't resist the urge to get involved in some form of violent activity.

We have our name back! (VIDEO)

It’s what the fans have been wanting for the last year, and now it seems as though they have their wish. From next season Newcastle United’s Stadium will again change its name back to the original St James’ Park after the loan company ‘Wonga’ will become the new club sponsor.

    Lets bounce straight back up!

It is a nightmare of epic proportion for any manager of a team that is relegated to the Championship and I feel is the toughest job in the business. When a team exits the Premiership it is very hard to rebuild and motivate yourself to push on and try to get back into the elite league of England.

What does Jonjo Shelvey offer Liverpool?

When Rafa Benitez plucked an 18-year-old from the depth of League One to ‘strengthen’ his midfield and compensate for the departure of Xabi Alonso almost a year prior, and forking out almost 2m for the pleasure, there was a sense of desperation around Anfield.

Theo Walcott - Winger or striker?

Theo Walcott has longed for the chance to have a regular spot as a striker since his arrival at the Emirates in 2006, but Arsene Wenger has continued to frustrate the 23-year old by extending his vexatious time as a wide man.

    Tip top Al Habsi

In Wigan's game against Stoke earlier this, Ali Al-Habsi made what will probably end up being save of the season. Late in the game, Stoke had a free-kick just outside Wigan's box and up stepped Charlie Adam.

Adam hit the ball well enough but it took a deflection and Al-Habsi was able to shift his body weight in mid-air and get a hand to ball to punch it away, preserving a point for his team.

I have long believed that Al-Habsi is one of the top three goalkeepers in the Premier League and it is only a matter of time until a big club comes calling.

Always such a consistent performer, here are the best bits from his excellent 2011/12 season.

Did he or didn't he? (Video)

Tom Cleverly probably wasn't being that honest in his post-match interview when he told reporters that he 'had a look up' and fired in Manchester United's third goal against Newcastle on Sunday, as opposed to what is closer to the real truth; he was sending in a cross for van Persie.

    Tweeting worse than cheating (Video)

How has it come to being that we live in a world where petty comments and the use of social media has become a greater offence than that of its physical counterpart?

The weekend kicked off with Ashley Cole doing exactly that - kicking off. His decision to 'tweet' in response to the FA stating his comments were irregular and inconsistent was nothing short of juvenile. The England and Chelsea left back has since seen what a stupid boy he's been, deleted his tweet (19k retweets too late!!) and apologised unreservedly.
