An Argentinean superstar in Yorkshire (VIDEO)

He is worshipped in Yorkshire and for the last four years Luciano Becchio has been a vital part of a Leeds United squad that are on a quest to return to the big time of the Premiership.

The main reason Becchio is worshipped at Elland Road is not just for his goals but for the fact that he hasn’t followed the likes of Bradley Johnson, Jonny Howson and Robert Snodgrass into the Premiership. He has stayed loyal to the Whites and will look to join the Premiership as a Leeds player.

Becchio has many qualities as a centre forward. Firstly he is unbelievable at winning the ball in the air. He can score goals with his head regularly and he can also link with his strike partners to flick the ball on from a goal kick. Becchio did this well when partnered with Jermaine Beckford in League one and now he does it well when he plays with Ross McCormack.

He is a sharp shooter as well. When the ball drops loose in the opponent’s 18 yard box Becchio is always looking to get on the end of it to turn the ball into the net. As well as this Becchio is handy from the penalty spot too.

Having watched many Leeds matches recently with my Grandad and talking to many of the Leeds faithful it is clear that the fans appreciate a hard worker who always gives 100%. Becchio certainly does that in any match he plays. When Leeds aren’t in possession he tirelessly chases the opposition to reclaim the ball.

Luciano’s best season for Leeds came in the first season back in the Championship; he played 44 matches and scored 20 goals. But those who watch Becchio know that he is typically a striker who creates more for his strike partner than he scores himself.

However as Ross McCormack is currently injured, Becchio has been given the role of leading the attack and so far he has stepped up to the plate. He has scored 9 goals in 12 games so far this season what is even more impressive is that Becchio has scored in every home Championship match to date from the start of the season.

There is no doubt Luciano Becchio is a huge favourite at Elland Road and the Argentinean is crucial for Leeds if they are going to get promoted to the Premiership. A song many sing on a Saturday afternoon in the stands... “Luciano, Lucianoooo he costs less than Berbatov and he scores more goals!”
