Arsenal Could Pick Up Target On A Free, But Is He What They Need?

Julio Cesar is a five-time Serie A winner, a Champions League winner and has 76 for the Brazilian national side, but he now finds himself in the English second division with zero appearances to his name this season. The 34-year-old was part of the Queens Park Rangers side that was relegated to the Championship last season and is yet to appear this time round, but his west London misery could be over as the Metro report he will be available on a free transfer come January, with Arsenal lurking.

If You Were Arsene Wenger, And Had £100m To Spend, Who Would You Look To Buy?

It's a figure that was thrown around at the start of the summer and even at some points last season. Arsenal fans will know exactly what I'm talking about, but for the people who don't know, it's the sum of money that was promised to be spent by Arsenal this summer. So far they have managed to only increase the amount available.

A plea for Arsenal to move in this transfer window

With a host of supposed deals that looked “certain” to happen, it seems all of them could have already potentially fallen through. Does that mean another season of scraping through for the red faction of north London?

Why QPR’s demise could give Robert Green a chance to rebuild his career.

Robert Green was signed on a free transfer for QPR at the start of last season but the former England number one spent most of the season playing second fiddle to Brazilian Julio Cesar. However after having an impressive season with the doomed side Harry Redknapp admits that Julio Cesar will be sold over the summer to help reduce the wage bill. This is good news for Robert Green though as he will have the chance to take the number one jersey at the hoops.

With the Brazilian keeper seeming to look for a new club after being apart of the relegated QPR team and clearly a top-flight keeper, he would prefer a stay in the Premiership for another season, so is expected to leave Loftus Road.

What does the future hold for Inter?

Ever since Jose Mourinho left his position as manager of Inter Milan in the summer of 2010 the team has struggled to perform to the same standards. A historic treble was achieved that season, including a convincing 2-0 win against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. Many fans believed that it was just the start of a period where Italian football was once again going to set the benchmark for the rest of Europe to follow, but instead Mourinho left to sign for Real Madrid. Since then, the Nerazzurri have had 5 different managers but none seem capable of lifting this giant back to the dizzy heights of a few seasons ago.

    Disaster at Q.P.R

So before we go into a deep sigh and possible laughter thinly layered with a hint of frustration. By a show of hand, which of you actually thought that QPR could really pull something off this season? Good, Now of those that raise their hands which of you thought that Harry could and would be a savior of the London team? Perfect when you realize I actually can’t see your hands please put them down gently or pretend that you were simply reaching for your back.

Keeper in focus: Julio Cesar (video)

Arguably the Premier League’s best goalkeeper this season, QPR’s signing of Julio Cesar in the summer surprised many, yet he has been instrumental in the club’s recent upturn in form and has since gained a re-call to the Brazilian national team as well as the rumoured interest of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

    QPR's intercontinental lineup

Looking at the players that have arrived at Loftus Road in the last couple of seasons, it’s easy to wonder how QPR can find themselves at the bottom end of the Premier League.

Mark Hughes’ short term fix not a long term solution

Only at a club with the mental past history of Queens Park Rangers can you expect to see a manager react to an opening day defeat by replacing the whole back four. A Swansea whirlwind may have blown any pre-season optimism away from Loftus Road but to resort to a carpentry-like renovation of a defence and give it the IKEA treatment at the calling of just one game is not the answer, regardless of its margin of defeat.
