A closer look at Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus is one of the five players I mentioned yesterday in regards to who Arsenal should be targeting in January and I discussed why his transfer to Arsenal wouldn't be as ridiculous as some people make out it would be. A quick summary for those who didn't read it yesterday. Tomas Rosicky is his idol, he supports Arsenal, he speaks very highly of Jack Wilshere, the arrival of Mesut Ozil and the German influence on the team in general.

5 marquee signings Arsenal should make in January

We've barely finished the summer transfer window and already rumours are flying around suggesting that Arsene Wenger has been given permission to sign one big name player in January. The press have already linked us with Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan and Lars Bender. However, they seemed very unlikely in the summer so think about the response in January when it becomes even harder to sign players. Nevertheless, it's fun to speculate about who Arsenal could sign. The five players, however unrealistic they are, must not be taken as an actual transfer rumour. Having said that, Arsenal have probably been linked with all of them at some point. As is the norm with the Gunners.

The Importance Of Mesut Ozil For Arsenal

This is a follow on from my Tomas Rosicky post about the importance of some players in a team. With the arrival of Mesut Ozil I feel that his importance off the pitch could be just as important as on it. When you pay over £40 million for a player you expect to get your money's worth, and with Ozil you definitely get your money's worth.

The Importance Of Tomas Rosicky To Arsenal

The shaggy looking 32-year-old Czech Republic international perhaps hasn't enjoyed the career he would have wanted at Arsenal, with all the injuries he's suffered since his arrival back in 2006 from Borussia Dortmund. Now, I've picked up on Rosicky's importance fairly early on but I haven't yet had the platform to write an article on my thoughts. But the time has come, so sit back and hear my thoughts as to why Rosicky is as important to Arsenal as any other player on the pitch. Unless you've already realised this of course - it's surprising the amount of people that haven't in all honesty.

With strong rumours last week that leading Borussia Dortmund marksman Robert Lewandowski will be leaving the Westfalenstadion in the summer for arch-rivals Bayern Munich, there are genuine fears amongst the Dortmund faithful and football supporters worldwide that the reigning German champions’ golden generation may be torn apart before it reaches its prime.

The Bundesliga: Everybody's second favourite league in 2013/14 (Video)

This week’s announcement that Pep Guardiola will be re-starting his already illustrious managerial career in the Bundesliga as opposed to the Premier League next season appears to have shocked many football journalists and supporters on our shores, who fully expected Guardiola to take a seat in the dugout vacated by either Rafa Benitez or Roberto Mancini. However, should we be so surprised that Pep has elected to test himself in Germany?

    That Marco Reus (Video)

How about that Marco Reus eh? Not bad for a 23 year old, I know. There is a reason that Borussia Dortmund paid 18 million euros for the man's services and his impressive showings already in not only the Bundesliga and the Champions League make it look like money well spent.

Marco Reus - the future of German football (Video)

British audiences caught just a glimpse of Marco Reus’ talent at Euro 2012 at Euro 2012 when the then Borussia Monchengladbach attacker cracked in a volley to secure Germany’s victory over Greece in the Quarter Finals. However, before these last couple of weeks, you will have been hard pressed to find an English football watcher who had truly seen him play.

In West Germany, north of the river Rhine, lies Borussia Park, a dauntingly built 54,057 seater stadium that was constructed in 2004 to the tune of £85 million, to host the fortunes of Borussia Monchengladbach, Germany’s sixth largest supported.
