A Closer Look At Juan Mata's Manchester United Debut

When Juan Mata made the move from Chelsea to Manchester United last week not only did it raise a few eyebrows with those at Chelsea, but it also shocked some neutral supporters too. On the surface he had left a side within touching distance of the top of the Premier League and a club where he had won consecutive Player of the Season trophies, for one that looked to be on the slope after Sir Alex Ferguson's departure. It happened anyway, and tonight he made his debut against Cardiff at Old Trafford.

Was Mourinho Wrong To Let Mata Join Manchester United?

Hands up, who saw that coming then? Juan Mata making the jump from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford is one of the most surprising transfer stories of recent years, and there we all were predicting a quiet January transfer window.

Why Manchester United Can't Let Juan Mata Slip Through Their Fingers

Everybody knows that Manchester United are not only losing touch with the title, but also a top four finish in the Premier League. United sit 7th in the league, seven points off fourth placed Liverpool and a further 14 points off first placed Arsenal. In many people’s opinion, it is a creative midfielder that Manchester United badly need, and now it seems that they might just be on to something.

What's The Mata, Jose? Manchester United Could Break Record With Bid For Blues Midfielder, But Where Would He Fit In?

According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are ready to plug the gap in their midfield by making a bid for Chelsea's two-time Player of the Year, Juan Mata. According to the reports, United will break their transfer record with a fee of around £37 million if the deal goes through, but where would the Spain international fit in at Old Trafford?

Mata At The Heart Of A Good Week For Chelsea

After conceding a rather embarrassing goal a mere 14 seconds into last Sunday's match against Southampton, Chelsea actually rallied themselves to quite a thrilling 3-1 victory over the saints. Once again, after quite a rocky start, when it seemed all but lost, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge will live to see another day.

Why Chelsea Playmaker Could Be The Perfect Addition To Manchester United

The Manchester United squad, on the whole, is a very impressive one. They have two of the best strikers in the Premier League and possess a wealth of options at the back, all while a Spain international operates in goal. But there is one area of the pitch that they are notably weak in, and that's the midfield. For me, there is one man who fits the role that United are supposedly looking for, and that man is currently plying his trade with Chelsea.

3 Creative Midfielders Who Tottenham Should Be Looking To Recruit In January

In my previous article I suggested 3 strikers that Tottenham could buy in January to help give them the firepower they need in front of goal. However, it's all very well and good buying a striker but if they don't have a supporting cast good enough to give him a consistent supply of chances, then what's the point?

What Went Wrong For Chelsea In The Champions League This Week?

Chelsea really are feeling blue after Tuesday's loss in the Champion’s League to FC Basel. Despite loosing 1-0 with the goal being scored late on, in the 87th minute, Chelsea still managed to qualify for the knockout stages and are safely through to the next round. Though its great that the west London side will continue on in the Champions League, it was by no means pretty, and they shouldn’t be at all too proud of their recent performance.

Would Selling Mata Help De Bruyne Fill His Potential At Chelsea?

Juan Mata is an incredible player, there are few who would argue that, but he's not enjoying the most of his effective starts of the season this time round. Now, with various outlets reporting him with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the new year, it could be the end of his time in west London.

Chelsea Ready To Sell Trio - Should They Stay Or Should They Go?

Jose Mourinho isn't one to mince his words. If the Portuguese coach tells you that you're not playing, he usually has a good reason for doing so, and if he tells you that he wants rid of you in the next transfer window then, well, you probably don't have too long left. And that is what the London Evening Standard is suggesting will happen to David Luiz, Juan Mata and former Newcastle striker Demba Ba.

5 Player That Could Boost Manchester United's Title Hopes - Includes Chelsea Playmaker

Manchester United have had an up and down season so far, with far too many downs than they'll want to admit to, but they have struggled. The change in managers hasn't helped and performances have suffered because of it - the average players really have proven themselves to be just that. For this reason, United sit in 8th, two points behind seventh placed Everton and 8 points of league leaders, Arsenal.

Chelsea have made a fairly solid start to life under Mourinho. A last minute Fernando Torres goal gave the Blues a 2-1 victory over Manchester City today and moved Chelsea into second place, two points behind Arsenal. But who can fire the Blues to the title?
