What's The Mata, Jose? Manchester United Could Break Record With Bid For Blues Midfielder, But Where Would He Fit In?

According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are ready to plug the gap in their midfield by making a bid for Chelsea's two-time Player of the Year, Juan Mata. According to the reports, United will break their transfer record with a fee of around £37 million if the deal goes through, but where would the Spain international fit in at Old Trafford?

When Mata plays, he really plays. The 25-year-old played 35 league games for Chelsea last season and made 95 key passes, which is an incredible feat to say the least. He ripped sides apart with ease and finished the season with 20 goals in all competitions.

For me, there is only one man whose name is straight on the team sheet, and that's Michael Carrick. The pass-master runs the midfield and provides a base for everything to run in front of him with minimal fuss.

Then, next to him is currently Marouane Fellaini or Tom Cleverley, and for me the latter doesn't currently deserve a place in the side.

In a 4-2-2-2 formation, I would stick Carrick and Fellaini in the middle, or maybe Darren Fletcher ahead of the Belgian, with Juan Mata on the right and Adnan Janujaz on the left.

Then, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie would naturally be the pair up top.
