Chelsea: Oscar Opting To Walk Home Reflects Attitude At Stamford Bridge

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea midfielder Oscar walked home from Craven Cottage on Saturday as he lives just a short walk from the stadium. The Brazilian star played seventy-eight minutes in the Blues 1-3 win and opted against travelling on the team bus back to Stamford Bridge.

This unassuming act reflects the current mind-set of their boss Jose Mourinho towards his team, in my opinion. The charismatic, Portuguese manager continues to downplay his side’s title ambitions despite the Stamford Bridge outfit being on a 13 match unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League.

Oscar is one of many players who have thrived under the leadership of the ‘Special One’ and it is clear that the players believe in his philosophies and values. For a Premier League footballer to walk home from a football match in the modern game requires a great degree of bravery and selflessness – both traits which I would associate with any Mourinho side.

It was refreshing to see a Premier League footballer emphasising that the game has not drifted away from reality just yet. This down-to-earth mentality provides further evidence that there are no egos in the Chelsea squad, and much like his manager and the rest of his team-mates, Oscar is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

This informative article is spot on and should act as a timely reminder to many fans that when picking players to buy (at very high prices these days), clubs and Managers MUST consider many many things including individual players mentality and approach to life. In my humble opinion the young Oscar has many many improving years in front of him and will eventually become a Chelsea club legend. Players like him, Hazard and Willian (with Jose's guidance, are ready to take this club on to another level completely.

Thank you for your kind words Alan Frank. I expect Chelsea to be even more of a force next season and their level of football is rising all the time.
