Manchester United Eyeing Defender With 86% Pass Success, But What Could He Offer? Player Report

I expect this summer to be one of change at Manchester United. If David Moyes stays at the club then I expect a clear out of players and a new wave coming into Old Trafford, but even if a new boss comes in there will surely be a new regime with new faces. Either way, there is one player who is being linked with a move at the end of the season, and that is Freiburg centre-back Matthias Ginter.

With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic out of contract in the summer there is a need to build a backline around new players. The 20-year-old German would be a brilliant fit for the Red Devils.

He has thrived in the Bundesliga this season, making 23 appearances and another five in the Europa League. As well as playing as a centre-back he is an adequate choice as a holding midfielder and has plugged the gap in the Freiburg midfield on a number of occasions this season.

The composure that he plays with allows him to play the ball out from the back and keep things running on the deck - he has completed 86% of his passes this season.

He has averaged 3.8 clearances per game, 1.9 interceptions and 1.7 tackles and has a huge future ahead of him. He's a powerful player who at 20 is making waves in European football, and United could do far worse than making a move for him.
