Arsenal Be Worried: Why Gunners Should Be Scared Of Losing 4th Spot To Everton

At one stage in the season, Arsenal were unstoppable and ended up leading the division. They even entered 2014 top, and that continued until the end of the month. However, fortunes have changed for the Gunners and they now face a challenge to hang onto fourth.

Last night, Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates while Everton trumped Newcastle 3-0. This included an incredible goal from Ross Barkley. The Toffees are six points behind the north London club but have a game in hand. They will also face Arsenal the weekend after this, which makes that fixture a crunch game for both parties.

Arsenal are in a rut in terms of form, as they've failed to win their past couple of games, getting smashed for six in one. They're reputation for grinding out results against weaker teams has also been diminished after a loss to Stoke at the start of the month and a 2-2 draw against Swansea at the end.

This loss of form and confidence is perfect for Everton who are looking to sneak ahead of Arsenal into fourth place. The Merseyside club have now won four games in a row and look to be entering form at just the right time.

The climax to this season will certainly be a fascinating one but it could in tears for the Gunners as missing out on fourth is a realistic outcome for them. Arsenal simply need to beat Everton when they face each other in the early stages of April.
