Fit For Chelsea Clash: Why Oxlade-Chamberlain Can Be The Difference For Arsenal

Pace is the one attribute that teams hate to defend against. At Villa Park, the pace of Aston Villa’s front trio wreaked havoc on what appeared to be an unbreakable Chelsea backline. Jose Mourinho may still be smarting over some key decisions that went against his side, but you have to admire the enthusiasm and bravery shown by Paul Lambert’s young lions.

Enthusiasm and bravery are two key qualities that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has displayed in previous weeks and according to the Daily Mail, the 20-year-old is set to be passed fit for Saturday’s crucial clash at Stamford Bridge. This is a major boost for Arsenal who are currently well short of attacking options, with Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere all sidelined with injury.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a man playing at the top of his game which was demonstrated in the all-action performance he produced against Bayern Munich – arguably the strongest team in Europe. The England international is by no means guaranteed a place in Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad so this will also act as an incentive for the former Southampton graduate to keep playing at such a high level.

The youngster offers bundles of pace to an Arsenal attack that is well short of this element at present. Therefore it is crucial that Oxlade-Chamberlain is firing on all cylinders. A victory for the Gunners will really put the cat amongst the pigeons at the top of the Premier League.

I would love to see Arsenal win but it is going to be tough. Then again, Jose has to lose in the league at Stamford Bridge sometime soon............
