Liverpool: Gerrard Wants New Contract For Rodgers - Here's Why I Agree

Liverpool continue to keep pace in the Premier League title race and captain Steven Gerrard has urged the club’s owners to offer Brendan Rodgers a new deal as soon as possible. The Merseyside outfit have displayed remarkable progress under Rodgers and in the worst case scenario will finish in the top 4, thus qualifying for the prestigious Champions League.

There is certainly an underlying swagger amongst the personnel at Anfield given their current form and Gerrard is right to encourage the board to offer Rodgers a new contract. The 33-year-old has stated Rodgers is the best man-manager he has ever worked with and this is best illustrated in the manner in which he dealt admirably with the Luis Suarez situation.

Rodgers has managed to keep hold of Liverpool’s world-class individuals and has also improved the levels of many undeveloped youngsters at the club. This has given the likes of Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson a genuine shot at being selected for the World Cup squad. Gerrard is right to provide support to his manager and build on the positive euphoria circulating around the red half of Merseyside.

Liverpool could potentially go from finishing 7th last season to ending this campaign as league champions which, would be an incredible achievement. It is pivotal that they build on the success on this season and to do this they must back Rodgers to the hilt, just like Gerrard has done.
