Why Manchester United Should Offload Van Persie This Summer

The negativity just keeps on following Manchester United, even when it appears that they are finally starting to turn a corner. The Red Devils at long last produced a performance that we have been accustomed to seeing from United over the years in their 0-3 victory at West Brom.

However the headline-maker was Robin van Persie – their star man from last season. The Dutchman was perhaps lucky to stay on the field after a rash tackle on Steven Reid which in my eyes warranted a second booking. The 30-year-old displayed obvious frustration and discontent in this moment and in particular when he was then substituted in the second half.

Van Persie joined United to win major honours and even though they won the Premier League title last season, he is visibly not happy with the current state of affairs at Old Trafford.

It would be wise for David Moyes to offload van Persie in the summer amid speculation that Juventus could be a potential destination for the former Gunner. This would also give Wayne Rooney the opportunity to once again be the main striker, a role which in which he thrives.

Van Persie is approaching the twilight of his career and Moyes needs to look to build his team around players who have the desire to represent the red half of Manchester. As gifted as the Dutchman is, the former Everton boss is trying to inject pace and energy to his side which was summed up with the dynamic fluidity of Danny Welbeck’s goal.

It is no coincidence that their best spell of football came about once Van Persie had left the field.

In my opinion, United would be better off without van Persie.
