Arsenal: Forget Morata And Move For Premier League Striker With 13 Goals In 24 Games

Arsenal have flirted with success for too long now, and they were once again reliant on the goal-scoring prowess of Olivier Giroud to keep their hopes alive of finishing the season with a trophy. The Frenchman scored twice late on to kill off a brave Everton side, who for long periods looked like they would come away with at least a replay from the Emirates in their FA Cup quarter-final clash.

The signing of another striker will help ease the burden on the 27-year-old who now has 18 goals to his name so far this campaign. The Gunners have been linked with summer moves for Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata and on-loan Newcastle forward Loic Remy and I think the latter would be a superb acquisition for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Remy would offer a complete contrast in style to Giroud. He has an abundance of pace and is able to stretch defences. Both of the Frenchmen possess excellent aerial ability and in my opinion would form a prolific partnership.

Remy is one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League - scoring 13 in 24 - and there is no doubt he would be the recipient of more goal-scoring opportunities at the Emirates, especially given the creative riches in the Arsenal midfield.

Morata is just 21 years of age and has had very limited playing time in Spain. The Gunners already have a wealth of young talent at the club and it makes perfect sense for Wenger to spend £8 million on a proven Premier League striker rather than £25 million on another player who could add to the future potential of the club.

I hope he stays at Villa but I expect him to leave in the summer.
