Why This Arsenal Loanee Could Be Key For Wenger Next Season

Joel Campbell has been on loan from Arsenal ever since he arrived in the summer of 2011 due to work permit issues. This has led to stints at FC Lorient, Real Betis and his current club, Olympiakos. According to the Mirror, the Costa Rican star has declared that he wants to prove himself in the Premier League before he moves anywhere as he feels he has a great chance of success.

This would not only be a good move for him but also for Arsenal. The 21-year-old has gained experience in three different European leagues and it's his time in the Greek Super League that has been his best so far.

In his 24 appearances for the club, he has scored seven goals and claimed 10 assists, which is a great record. This places him in tied second for highest amount of assists and tied in sixth for highest goal scorers.

Not bad for a player in a new league.

What Campbell boasts, above everything else, is a whole plethora of skills that he combines with his speed to create a devastating winger.

Those attributes could be useful to Arsenal next season as they've been crying out for a winger to replace Theo Walcott. While Oxlade-Chamberlain has played his part recently, it seems as though Wenger has an entirely different role for him. Serge Gnabry still has a lot of learning to do but he's also an option.

However, what could work in Campbell's favour is that he's quite versatile as he can play anywhere in a three pronged attacking midfield and he can also play as striker.

So the Costa Rican shouldn't be discarded because of the fact that he's spent quite a bit of time out on loan, in fact he should be kept and used intelligently.
