Can the 'Special One' work his magic at Chelsea?

    Guess who's back?

    Back again.

    Jose's back.

    Tell a friend.

Yes, that's right, everybody's favourite, and most arrogant, Portugeezer has returned to grace our beloved Premier League once again.

Exciting stuff and Chelsea fans, understandably, are very excited. But what state does Mourinho find Chelsea from the squad he left so abruptly six years ago? For one, they have that elusive Champions League trophy under their belt but Mourinho finds a team that needs a few additions here and there but, ultimately, has class and creativeness at its core.

This has been true, however, for all managers since Mourinho left so the big question really is whether or not Mourinho can replicate the same successes he delivered in his first spell with the club.

Despite winning the league title with Real Madrid it would not be unfair to say that during Mourinho's time in Spain he was inferior to Pep Guardolia's Barcelona.

It would perhaps be going too far to call it a failure but Mourinho's tenure in Madrid certainly fell short of his own very high standards.

Owner Roman Abramovich will provide Mourinho with the funds needed to augment the squad and next season's title race will be of great interest with three of the top four teams now under new management.

More than anything, though, with Mourinho's return we have the return of one of the most quotable managers in the history of football which means there will no lack of entertainment. Not that we were expecting anything less.
