    Chelsea's biggest mistake

This season has seen Fernando Torres pick up where he left off from last season.

Low on confidence, lacking pace and any real cutting edge. Despite scoring 7 goals and looking slightly better than last season, it's still not the striker that the European Champions need.

Bringing in Senegalese striker Demba Ba is the transfer window is a cracking piece of business, buthowever Ba has appeared for Newcastle in this seasons Europa League and finds himself cup-tied, meaning Chelsea's only natural forward option for European games is 'El Nino'.

This begs the question, as to why didn't Chelsea recall 19-year-old Belgian powerhouse Romelu Lukaku from his loan spell at West Bromwich Albion?

The young striker has been in top form for the Baggies this season scoring 10 premier league goals, 3 more than the Spaniard, and has also chipped in with a couple of assists.

During January, Rafa Benitez stressed that he would not be recalled and he will finish his season-long loan in the midlands - much to the dismay of the Chelsea faithful.

The 6ft 3" Belgian looks a ready made replacement for former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. His general play is so similar to the Ivorian's; the pace, skill and sensational strength.

At only 19 years of age, Lukaku is one of the most highly rated strikers in Europe and if he continues to improve at the current rate he is, he'll no doubt equal or maybe even surpass what great things Drogba achieved in his time at Stamford Bridge.

Not only is the above impressive, he adds a completely different dimension to Chelsea's style of play. Where Torres and Ba have a similar way about their game, Lukaku can play the lone striker more confidently and gives Chelsea a 'Plan B'.

Not recalling the Belgian will now leave Chelsea empty handed come May and will also end the reign of interim manager Benitez.
