Friday Night Football - VfL Wolfsburg vs Bayern München

This evening ESPN are covering Bundesliga fixture Vfl Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich have not dropped points against Wolfsburg since 2011 and a win tonight could see them go 18 point clear of second placed Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern have been in sensational league form this season winning 17 of their 21 games, scoring 55 and conceding an admirable 7 goals - the last goal they conceded was back in mid December when they drew 1-1 with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Former Wolfsburg stiker Mario Mandzukic has netted 14 times in the league this season for Munich and should lead their front line ahead of German international Mario Gomez who has found goals hard to come by this season.

Wolfsburg go into this fixture having not picked up a point against the Bavarian side in over 2 years and sitting 12th position. Without a win in their last 3 games they will be looking to make home advantage count and pull off an unexpected result.

Former Bayern striker Ivica Olic, who joined Wolfsburg over the summer, has managed only 2 Bundesliga goals this season and will be eager to impress his previous employers. However it should be his striking counterpart, Bas Dost who gets the nod with 8 goals this season.

With Bayern all of assured of the Bundesliga title, I wouldn't be surprised if Jupp Heynckes rested key players having one eye on their mid-week Champions League tie against Arsenal. Despite the importantance of the game against Arsenal, Bayern will not want to damage their sensational Bundesliga record this season.

Should Bayern play a full strength side or a slightly weakened side, they should still have more than enough quality to overcome an inconsistent Wolfsburg team.
