Spurs close to goalkeeper and in market for more

Spurs have made a breakthrough in their long-running attempt to sign Hugo Lloris from Lyon after the French goalkeeper was granted permission to speak to the club.

However, despite contrasting reports, Lyon have denied they have agreed a deal with Spurs, with a fee in the region of £9.5 million being mentioned.

President Jean-Michel Aulas says it is 50-50 whether the 25 year old joins White Hart Lane as a replacement for Brad Friedel.

Meanwhile, midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart has been allowed to re-join German club Hamburg in a £10 million deal, with chairman Daniel Levy also in negotiations to bring Portuguese playmaker Joao Moutinho to London as a replacement in a busy transfer deadline day at White Hart Lane.
