One in, one (finally) out at City

Manchester City have continued their busy conclusion to the transfer window by selling Roque Santa Cruz to Malaga and bringing in Javi Garcia to ease their midfeld worries.

Santa Cruz, having made just 20 appearances in 3 years at City, had been swelling the wage bill at Eastlands for a long period and Robrto Mancini has finally found someone willing to take the Paraguayan off his hands, with Spanish club Malaga his likely destination.

This frees up room for Mancini to bring in highly-rated Spanish defensive midfielder Garcia from Benfica, with a £24 million move being mooted for the 25 year old who will boost numbers at he heart of City's midfield following Thursday's departure of Nigel De Jong to AC Milan.

This will follow the earlier signing of Swansea winger Scott Sinclair while a deal for Inter Milan right-back Maicon appears to be nearly completed, as Mancini tries to renovate his squad for their forthcoming title defence.
