    Pardew still keen on striker

Alan Pardew has re-opened the discussion about an ex-Newcastle player rejoining the club.

Pardew opined that Andy Carroll would add “a nice dimension” to Newcastle but insists a deal for the Liverpool striker is still in the hands of the board.

Carroll left for Liverpool for £35million 18 months ago but has failed to settle at Anfield and Brendan Rodgers' arrival at the club has prompted further speculation about his future.

Rodgers has dismissed talk of the England striker leaving on a temporary deal but speculation has begun that Newcastle are lining up a final £17million bid.

Pardew believes the deal is currently at board level but added he would like to see him in his squad.
