Chelsea capture young right back

Chelsea have completed the signing of a new defender.

Cesar Azpillcueta has joined the Blues from Marseille after being linked with the club throughout the summer and has now signed for a fee reported to be £7million.

The 22-year-old right back is thought to be in contention to play for the Blues in their game against Newcastle tonight after training with his new teammates yesterday.

The Spain Under-21 international who represented his country at the Olympics earlier in the summer will give Roberto Di Matteo further options on the right side of his defence after Jose Boswinga left the club at the start of the summer.

Azpillcueta also missed Marseille's Europa League tie on Thursday evening making him eligible to play for Chelsea in Europe this season.
