    Wenger wants RVP to stay

Arsene Wenger has said that he wants Robin van Persie to stay at Arsenal despite the striker's announcement he will not be signing a new contract.

The Dutchman's contract expires next summer and despite wanting him to stay at the club, Wenger wants his future resolved as soon as possible.

The Frenchman said: "He has one year left and is in demand but our desire is to keep him. However, we will do what is in the best interests of the club. If you have a decoder in your head you can decode that."

Wenger is keen to avoid a situation that has happened in past summers with Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who's transfer sagas cast a shadow over the club.
