    Saviour of Aston Villa.

Today, Aston Villa's star front man has come out to the press and said he will happily sign a contract extension with the Birmingham club...if they stave off the drop.
With a double your money increase if he does sign the new deal, seeing his money rise from £20,000 a week to £40,000, he is a target for numerous top clubs in the Premier League and foreign teams. Paul Lambert has reasoned with the interest and said that Benteke's best hope for first team action and cementing his place in the Belgium squad for next year is by staying with the Villains.

With 19 goals in his first campaign in England after his £7 million move from Genk, it appears he cannot do any more for his team and other areas are slacking. Imagine if Benteke never signed or had a longer bedding in period! Villa surely would of been relegated and is the only glimmer of hope in a young team.
I have no doubt if Aston Villa can survive the relegation scrap, they will be a largely better team next season, with their recent Next-Gen series win and the amount of young players they have in their current squad is refreshing, but does come with its negatives. With Randy Lerner and Paul Lambert conceding they need to tie down their young stars, otherwise face being picked apart by the more lucrative teams in the league.
