Carroll to be handed second chance?

After so much talk, it feels like the Andy Carroll saga has been around forever. It must reach some sort of conclusion this summer and, most surprisingly of all, the Daily Mail believes that his future may possibly lie at Anfield after all.

Reports suggest that the Merseyside club may be willing to extend an olive branch to the imposing forward, who cost them £35 million in 2011.

Boss Brendan Rodgers had seemingly hoped that West Ham United, where Carroll is currently on loan, would be impressed sufficiently enough to make the move permanent, but they have no obligation to put up the necessary £17 million.

Former club Newcastle are also thought to be monitoring the situation, with some sources claiming a swap deal with Hatem Ben Arfa being one possible outcome.

Northern Irish Rodgers refused to rule out the possibility of Carroll finding himself playing infront of the Kop next term. He said of the issue:

'It's nothing to discuss now. It's something we'll speak about at the end of the season.'

Unsurprisingly tight lipped, then. Much seems to hinge on whether Liverpool can find a buyer who will offer them a significant portion of what they forked out for the England striker.
