Liverpool find defender to fill Carragher's boots

It is no secret that Liverpool's centre back stocks are not exactly on the rise and with that in mind barely a day can go by without the latest high profile defender on the market being linked to them. Today's edition of the Anfield centre back search revolves around Dede with The Metro reporting that the Reds are very keen on the Vasco man.

Dede wouldn't exactly be a straight forward addition given that he is not owned by one but three parties, although Vasco are keen to cash in on his services as their financial troubles continue to thicken. Competition also looks tough for his signature with AC Milan believed to be more than keen, meaning that it is going to take some impressive negotiating to get the player to Anfield.

With Jamie Carragher retiring, Sebastian Coates looking like he might be the latest young South American to fail to adapt to English football and Martin Skrtel's future very much uncertain the addition of Brazilian Dede would be a significant sign of progress. Whilst Dede looks to have all the tools to succeed it is worth noting that Brazilian centre backs don't exactly have great history of succeeding in Europe, although Thiago Silva might have gone someway to writing that myth.
