    Gonalons on Arsenal radar

It is no secret that Arsenal are still in real need of extra midfield, so reports in The Metro linking Maxime Gonalons with a move to the Emirates will be more than welcome.

In truth the Gunners have never quite replaced stalwart Patrick Veira, Abou Diaby had been identified as the long term successor however despite producing several more than promising spells in recent years he has seen his career ruined by injuries. It would seem than Arsene Wenger is finally set to move on from pinning his hopes on the injury prone and unlucky Frenchmen, news which will be greeted with aplomb by those who have for years been sreaming out for a new midfielder enforcer.

Gonalons is one of the most highly rated midfielders in France and given his current club Lyon's financial situation it is highly unlikely they will be able to resist interest from Arsenal, even if their president doe have past history with Wenger. So with that in mind Gonalons could soon be gone from Lyon and joining so many of his countymen at the Emirates, although given the long history of false transfer dawns Arsenal fans won't be getting his name on their shirts just yet.
