German goalkeeper puts brakes on Arsenal move

There was a time when a story linking a goalkeeper to Arsenal was pretty much a staple part of daily life, however in recent times the Gunners goalie transfer bandwagon is not quite as productive as it once was. So reports linking Rene Adler to the Emirates were pleasing to those fans of the goalkeeper gossip, however ESPN Soccernet are reporting that Adler has himself played these reports down therefore quashing the excitement.

The German number two is highly rated and at 28 is nearing his peak years meaning he would be a terrific capture for anyone, let alone an Arsenal side who are still struggling to find a proper number one. However Adler will have disappointed Arsenal supporters with his desire to stay with current club Hamburg, whilst this desire is only likely to be enhanced further if they can clinch Champions League football.

If anyone still held any hopes of Arsenal signing the shot stopper then the fact that he only recently snapped up a mansion in the suburbs of Hamburg therefore hinting at an extended stay at the football club only further diminishes these hopes. So with that in mind it seems that Arsenal's never ending quest to finally find a replacement for Jens Lehman looks set to go on for another chapter at least.
