Real president sets £45m limit for £100m rated Bale

Just a few days after some news outlets were reporting that Gareth Bale could cost up to £100m Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has apparently insisted he will pay no more than £45m for the Welsh wizard according to the Daily Mirror. So something of a discrepancy there.

Perez has said that he could be prepared to offer either Gonzalo Higuain or Angel Di Maria in part exchange for the Spurs star though, despite Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy insisting that Bale will not be sold.

Bale signed a new deal at Spurs in the summer, earning himself £75,000 a week, but would surely be tempted by a move to Madrid, even if it is just an excuse to get away from Scott Parker.

The most likely situation looks to be somewhere in-between the two club’s valuations. Real will bid £45m, Levy will say no, Real will offer to throw in Ricardo Carvalho and a packet of Kit-Kats, Levy will say no, Real will offer £60m, Levy will say yes. Done and dusted.

If Spurs do lose the talismanic Bale in the summer they will surely need to bring in a new winger. Much of the North-Londoners success in recent years has come from the twin threat of Bale and Aaron Lennon on the flanks stretching teams and making space for Tottenham’s other attackers.
