Lyon striker could be heading to Spurs

It is clear to everyone with eyes that Spurs are in need of a new striker.

Emmanuel Adebayor has struggled to replicate the promising form he showed last season once given a permanent contract and despite scoring a nice goal against Manchester City at the weekend, Jermiane Defoe is inconsistent and the wrong side of 30.

The rest of the side has quality in almost every area but the strikers have both struggled so far this season.

Fortunately for Andre Villas Boas today´s Metro has the answer. Aparently Lyon´s Lisandro Lopez is unhappy in France, opening the door for a summer move to Spurs.

The Argentinian striker has scored 79 goals in his four seasons in Ligue 1 and at the age of 30, is only valued at around £5m by Lyon.

I don’t think it is possible for me to continue here,’ said Lopez.

‘Before the end of the season I’m going to meet with the president and the coach and we’ll see.’

So would Spurs fans be happy with the purchase of Lopez or is a younger, more expensive model needed – Gonzalo Higuain anyone?

Whatever happens with their forward line in the summer, Tottenham will be still  probably feel the future of Gareth Bale is their most important piece of business this summer.
