United look to pip City and ´Pool to Lisbon teen

Manchester United have something of a mixed record when picking up unproven teenagers from Sporting Lisbon. In recent seasons the newly crowned champions have picked up the worlds most expensive footballer ever in Cristiano Ronaldo and possibly the worlds most frustratingly inconsistent footballer in Nani.

And it seems that they´re preparing to dip their toe in the Lisbon waters once again.

According to The Daily Mirror Sir Alex Ferguson is planning to steal a march on Liverpool and Manchester City and sign 18-year-old forward Bruma in the summer.

Sporting have run into financial problems recently and are already auctioning off their prized assets with striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel agreeing a move to Norwich several weeks ago.

So will United have a new Ronaldo or a new Nani on their hands? The 20 time league winners are hoping that their previous transfer dealings with Lisbon will help them to secure the deal for Bruma.

The youngster moved to the Potugese side at the age of thirteen before scoring over 80 goals for Sporting´s various youth sides. He then made the step up to the first team in 2012 and has made 8 league appearances so far.
