    Valencia ace eyes summer escape

Valencia forward Jonas has alerted a host of European sides by revealing he may be ready to leave the La Liga outfit this summer. According to ESPN Soccernet, the Brazilian has affirmed a personal desire to be involved in UEFA Champions League football. Jonas has been in exceptional form this season, netting 17 times across all competitions, including 8 goals in his last 6 outings. These contributions have played a key role in Valverde’s side’s quest for a top 4 finish.

Jonas has himself declared that any potential move will be dictated by the clubs ability, or lack of, to qualify for next seasons UEFA Champions League. The 29 year old told reporters that, ‘If we do not make the Champions League, the club will have to sell more players. I want to fulfil my contract but if an offer comes in which is interesting for everyone then we will have to study it.’ This apparent declaration of intent is likely to interest a host of Premier League clubs.

Due to escalating debts, reportedly standing at €450million, the beaten 2000 and 2001 Champions League finalists have become a quintessential selling club. In order to raise funds, the financially stricken outfit have been forced to sell star names David Villa (Barcelona), David Silva (Manchester City), Juan Mata (Chelsea) and Jordi Alba (Barcelona) across recent seasons. Realistically, whether Valencia qualifies for next seasons Champions League or not, one can be assured that those financially endowed across the continent will again be circling like vultures above the Mestalla.
